Pokemon enjoyer who hasn't nominated yet: it's kind of a headache to split games, especially if you want pairings in the same main series but from different generations. There's some continuity and recurring characters through games too which makes it difficult (e.g. Giovanni appears in red/blue/green, as a minor character in heart gold/soul silver, and again in sun/moon- or Red, with similar appearances.) Some people also have cross-gen ships too (e.g. I've seen requests for Silver (GSC)/N (BW). There are some side games which may make sense to separate (like mystery dungeon or colloseum) but for main series releases I'd lean towards keeping them merged
