Nomination Clarifications Post #1

If you've found a duplicate or other mistake, please let me know here!

Nominators for the tags below have about 72 hours to fix them, defend them or replace them with something else (until 3 AM EDT on the 26th). After that, I will reject or fix them as below.

Relationship Tags

Buffyverse

Kushiel's Legacy - Jacqueline Carey

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Freeform Tags

Off-topic

The following tags are off topic and will be rejected. If you want to use the slot for something else, or edit them to include something that makes them on topic (for example, including them in a D/s scenario or adding kinky details), you have seventy-two hours.

Clothing Kink - Suits
Smut - Sensation Play - Sensual Massage Leads to Sex
Smut - Clothing Kink - Groping/Licking Through Underwear
Fisting
Smut - Endytophilia
Smut - Tattoo Kink - Tracing Partner's Tattoos During Sex
Boypussy (This falls under the fantasy rule; the person with a boypussy must be doing something kinky to count. If that's being body modded to have one, please specify!)
Sex Toys - Custom Made
blowjob to rimjob, Ass to Mouth
Come Inflation

The following tags are probably off topic, but I am willing to hear arguments that they should be accepted.

Cockwarming, Cock Warming
Crossdressing, Male Character(s) Wearing Panties and Garters, Male Character(s) Wearing Lace,  Clothing Kink - Crossdressing
Breeding Kink, Breeding
Clothing Kink - Gloves
Voyeurism
Hyper Muscle Growth

Ambiguous Wording

The following tags are worded confusingly and need to be rephrased. I will either reject them or edit them as I think is best in seventy-two hours.

Predator/Prey - is this meant as a roleplay scenario, a petplay scenario, an anthro scenario, a vore scenario, something else? Please specify/edit.

Pillow Talk Negotiations - Could the nominator please explain what they were picturing?

Bitching - Do you want the A/B/O scenario or the bestiality one?

Sub wants to be held down - I'm not clear whether the nominator wants "Bondage - Held down," or a negotiation scene where the sub expresses their desire to be held down.

Safewords, Safeword Use, safewords respected
Are these meant to be scenes where a safeword is used, or where the characters discuss/think about having safewords?

experienced sub scenes with inexperienced dom - I'm not sure what "scenes" as a verb is supposed to mean here, could the nominator clarify?

Immobilized by restraints - is this meant as Bondage - With Restraints, or Bondage - Completely Immobilized, or something else?

Other Problems and Queries:

Forced Mesudanshi TF - what does this mean? Also, does TF stand for transformation?

Cobb Vanth's Enormous Dick, Cockslut Din Djarin
Freeforms may be fandom-specific, but not character-specific.

My bad on the Loki/Sylvie/Thor front, happy to have them under Loki TV :)

Immobilized by restraints was me! I updated to Bondage - Completely Immobilized.

Not the "experienced sub scenes with inexperienced dom" submitter but scenes is often used as the verb to mean "participates in BDSM scene with someone". If I scene with blindfolds, I'm doing a scene with blindfolds.

For "Clothing Kink - Gloves": I'm confused about why this wouldn't be allowed when there are other clothing kink things. Why is a kink about gloves not allowed but a kink about piercings is?

For "Male Character(s) Wearing Panties and Garters" and "Male Character(s) Wearing Lace": You've already accepted "Male Character(s) Wear Corset" into the tagset, and the others fit that exact kind of thing. Why are they different in eligibility?

"Breeding Kink", "Voyeurism", and "Endytophilia" aren't mine but I'm confused about why they wouldn't be allowed as well - they're specific kinks that people have. Why do they not qualify when something like "Mommy Kink" does?

obligatory "not the nominator but" -- in my experience, predator/prey is almost always roleplay or roleplay-adjacent with the predator hunting down the prey and/or one or both of the parties taking on animalistic qualities during sexual acts. I think for people familiar with the term that tag does not need clarification.

I'm breeding kink person - I'd argue that I've seen a fair amount of breeding kink with pony play, pup play, and people getting into scenes where they are bred out to a third party by their Dom/Handler/etc. (Or fucked by their Dom/Handler while engaging in the fantasy.) Basically the key part of this as BDSM is giving up/not having (if this is a noncon scenario) the power to decide who you're fucking, the body being specifically used, etc etc.

That makes sense! I might go for "Dom breeds sub", that basically hits the same concept! I think I'd rather avoid 'role play' specifically because it's the scenario itself that's fun, it can be role-play or a piece of writing that takes the idea seriously, if that makes sense

Semi-related question: does stuff that would be classified as BDSM (or close enough in our world) to us but not to the characters within a scenario count for writing? To name an example - in Dragon Age, there's a group of people that consider magic users too dangerous to be independent, so every magic user has a "Handler" that literally leads them around by a leash while the mage is blindfolded, often with sewn lips. I think it would be close enough, but I'd rather ask for clarification

Not the cockwarming submitter but I've often seen fic where it's been a way to show submission/for the sub to enter subspace?

Not the submitter either, but coming in to add: I would always assume/expect a D/s context with something tagged cockwarming.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-24 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi, I originally nominated "Dom orders sub to perform sex acts on someone else" but then I saw that someone else nominated "Dom makes sub have sex with other people while they watch" which is actually a better descriptor of the scenario I had in mind, if you wanted to consolidate those tags.

Pillow Talk Negotiations - I was thinking of something like a couple sharing BDSM fantasies or negotiating while snuggling together in bed, so an intimate conversation in bed with BDSM content. :3

Also not the submitter and thirding this. A D/s context for cockwarming is very common. It's a type of service, sometimes with humiliation overtones. I have seen it occasionally in noncon fics, but primarily I think of it as a D/s thing, and as something that would definitely fall under the "BDSM-adjacent" umbrella.

hi! im the bitching and rimming nominatior! i changed them to
"A/B/O - Bitching"
"Dom/Sub - Sub rims Dom as a submissive act"
respectively! thanks!

While I'm not the nominator, I'm inclined to put in a word for "Voyeurism" - voyeurism is a huge part of participating in BDSM community and events for many people. Arguably, public play is always partially about voyeurism/exhibitionism, and public play is kind of central to the BDSM community. Obviously, these things vary and so do people's own definitions--and ultimately, you're the mod!--but this one in particular stands out to me as strongly BDSM-relevant.

I noticed this semi-duplicate in the tagset:

Cathartic Submission
Subbing to achieve catharsis

(There's also "Domming to Allow Safe Emotional Release for Sub," but I think the nominator's intention was to highlight the dom's intentions?)

I'm also a little confused by the tags with the “Smut” prefix; it seems kind of unnecessary and confusing, especially given the range of specific tags it's attached to.

Ah, yeah, it does. Well, I'm out of slots - I'll have to leave that to others, if they're so inclined.

So I understand what you mean with the "Smut" prefix, but I'm looking at this from a fanart perspective, and finding it rather tricky. What qualifies as "smut" in a standalone image, especially when it's appended to a freeform that isn't directly related to sexual stimulation? (For example: to draw "Smut - Shibari Under Clothing," would I need to draw someone getting fucked, clothed, while shibari is peeping out? Or would a drawing of a character blushing as another, leering/smirking character unbuttons their shirt to reveal ropes be smutty enough?)

I suppose one could avoid offering those prompts as an artist; it's just kind of disappointing, especially when quite a few of those freeforms lend themselves very well to visuals (and don't have a non-prefixed counterpart).

(Anonymous) 2022-05-25 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
If you want my two cents as someone who enjoys images of clothed people in bondage: the difference between "smut" and "not smut" would be whatever else is going on in the image. So if it's like an instructional diagram of how someone might put on ropes under their clothes, I wouldn't consider it to be smut. But if it was an image of someone wearing the ropes in a sexy scenario - for example, maybe they're in danger of being discovered, or maybe someone is helping them put on the ropes and/or clothing, that's what brings it to a smutty place. Fucking or nudity would definitely not be required.

Clearly interpretations may vary - to me, "smut" specifically means "explicit sexual content." It's like the difference between an E rating and an M rating (And I'd probably post images like the ones you describe with an M rating. Maybe even T in some cases. I'd consider them suggestive, not outright smutty. But I realize that these are grey areas!)

Fire Emblem Fandom Associations

(Anonymous) 2022-05-26 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! I'm not the nominator, but very familiar with this fandom, and Fire Emblem Series is definitely an overly general fandom tag that shouldn't be used for exchange purposes. It's like MCU, Final Fantasy Series, Dragon Age, etc---the games are completely separate in all practical terms.

Here are the ship tags in question and the AO3-approved names of the fandoms they should be under:

Alm/Clea | Clair (Fire Emblem) - Fire Emblem Echoes: Mou Hitori no Eiyuu Ou | Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Asama | Azama/My Unit | Kamui | Corrin (Fire Emblem) - Fire Emblem: If | Fire Emblem: Fates
